Board Game Gamefound News Tabletop

Making a grand return to the crowdfunding scene is Archon Studios’ Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Board Game. After a hugely successful Kickstarter run back in 2022, where it raised a staggering €3,834,885 (~₱237,632,483.91), the game will now move to Gamefound for its second round. This time around though, we’re getting three new expansions alongside the base game.

For those hearing the game for the first time, Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Board Game is a strategy board game adaptation of the video game of the same name. It features a dynamic board with deckbuilding, hero development, and even town management for 1 to 4 players. Following-up on the hot success back in 2022 where 27,000 backers poured millions to give life to the game, it’s now returning for a Gamefound kickstarter run.

As of this writing, the game has 9,600+ backers with a pledge of around €2,000,000 (~₱123,932,000.00) since going live around 6 hours ago (September 17th). The game achieved its goal of €50,000 in just 2 minutes and 45 seconds. With 14 days more days, it’s looking like this second run will surpass the success of the first. However, we’re not just getting a second run but three new expansions namely Stronghold, Conflux, and Cove. That last one is a collaboration with a fan made mod “Horn of the Abyss”.

The expansions introduce new heroes, towns, and stronghold unit. Stronghold focuses on a new subterranean location (a completely separate zone) and spell scrolls. Conflux, on the other hand, takes player in a land of magic and mystics.

Featuring elementals, some summonable, elemental tiles, and monoliths that are essentially portals players can pass through once or repeatedly. Lastly, we have Cove, the expansion introducing a new type of tile related to the sea with special movement mechanics.
