Metroid Dread bug stops players from progressing

Recently, players have reported a Metroid Dread bug that repeatedly closes the game once someone reaches a certain point in the story.

A bug has been found in #MetroidDread that can prevent players from progressing under a certain condition. A patch will be released by the end of October to fix this. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The bug arises when a player is near the end of the game and they “destroy a door while a map marker for that specific door is displayed on the map”. If the said bug is encountered, players are advised to restart the game and remove the door icon map marker. Fortunately, Nintendo is releasing an update at the end of the month to solve the issue. In the meantime, Nintendo support has released an article on how to avoid the bug.

Metroid Dread is an action-adventure game for Nintendo Switch. It is the latest entry in the long line of Metroid games. Despite the bug, Metroid Dread has enjoyed record-breaking sales upon its release in the past week.
