A new year means a new ROG Phone!

ROG is now hard at work pumping devices as 2021 chugs along. This time around, they introduced the next member of the ROG Phone family, the ROG Phone 5. Although our question is, where is the ROG Phone 4???

Anyway, the ROG Phone 5 brings with it the latest and greatest the mobile market has to offer. Aesthetic-wise the phone takes a different look approach. Glass still covers the entire device but now we have even more lighting options, a sleeker design, and two color choices — Black and White. The pixel ROG logo has two lighting zones and around the chassis we get some red accents.

Powering the device is Qualcomm’s latest 2.84GHz Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. Cooling is still at maximum with a 3D vapor chamber and two graphite sheets. Of course, the Aeroactive Cooler 5 also makes a return, providing the same cooling boost but with lesser noise and higher performance.

Display is bumped up to a 6.8-inch Samsung AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Protecting that screen is a Gorilla Glass Victus. Making it one of the fastest and toughest mobile displays out there, even comparing to the standard screens we get on laptops nowadays. Completing the multimedia package are two 7-magnet speakers and the GameFX audio system. Plus we have the return of the 3.5mm audio port. To further customize your experience, ROG is throwing in ASUS’ very own Audio Wizard app.

Then for even more assistance in gaming, ROG has updated the AirTriggers on the ROG Phone 5. You now have ultrasonic shoulder buttons allowing for multiple gestures (slides and swipes) apart from being standard buttons. Then you have refined mappable motion controls. For even more immersion the ROG Phone 5 now has Haptic Audio adding tactile feedback to games such as shooters. Then you have a huge 6,000mAh battery pack capable of 65W HyperCharge for quick and easy charging.

Accessory-wise, we’re still getting the previous generation pack but one of them gets an upgrade — Aeroactive Cooler 5. Not only does it provide additional cooling but more function. It now has two mappable buttons, a kickstand, and the ever so-loved 3.5mm audio port.

Then we have the Zephyrus G14 in mobile form, the ROG Phone 5 Pro. Having even more features than its brethren with two additional buttons and a customizable rear matrix display dubbed the ROG Vision. That tiny little strip at the back is a fully customizable display that you can tinker with. The extra two buttons you’re getting at the back is at the bottom. Just within reach of your pinky and can act like L2 and R2 buttons for a complete controller-like experience when paired with the AirTriggers.

If the ROG Phone 5 Pro is not enough, then you can kick it up another notch with the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. This limited edition variant of the ROG Phone 5 features a revamped designed and a white matte finish. It has all that the 5 Pro has to offer but with one unique change. The Ultimate comes with whopping 18GB of RAM. To top it all off the phone will come with a Fan Gift Collection filled to the brim with ROG items. Availability for all these variants are yet to be announced but check out their specs and prices below.
