ASUS’ multi-screen gimick makes its way to ROG with the Zephyrus Duo!
ASUS is not a stranger to introducing wild yet innovative technologies. Take a look at their ZenBook Duo laptops with built-in secondary screens dubbed the ScreenPad. That tech though, is no longer exclusive to their consumer line thanks to the Zephyrus Duo. The gaming beast with the same screen but with a further gimmick.
The difference between the Zephy Duo and its brothers the ZenBook Duos is that it has what they are calling the ROG ScreenPad Plus. Not only does it provide a secondary built-in screen, but it also pops-up as you open the laptop. Kind of like how the AAS (Active Aerodynamic System) cooling system of the Zephy line works. That’s because the open space between the screen and the chassis is now our extra cooling portion. So, the Zephyrus Duo 15 no longer has an elevating chassis.
Powering this gaming innovation are 10th Gen Intel Core i9 & i7 mobile CPUs and Nvidia RTX 2080 & 2070 Super Max-Q GPUs. Of course, we’re also getting Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, SSD Raid storage, and a proprietary GPU switch for shifting between gaming and battery priority. We’re back to the downward shifted Keyboard design to make way for that secondary screen. ROG is hard at work with developers to incorporate support for multiple games on the ScreenPad. As for that main screen, we’re getting options of up to a 4K panel or a 300hz/3ms 1080p panel. That ScreenPad, on the other hand, is a 14″ UHD touchscreen display. The Zephyrus Duo 15 releases on May 2020, official pricing is yet to be revealed.
