It has an 8-player mode! Skytear sure is a crazy new take on MOBA on tabletop!

PvP Geeks is taking Battle Arena on tabletop to a whole new level with their latest project, Skytear that’s now on Kickstarter. The game pits 2 to 8 players against each other in Multiplayer Online Battle Arena(MOBA)-inspired fashion.

The boardgame is completely diceless, instead relying on a card-based combat system. The base game has 8 heroes, each with their own unique set of minions. Yep, you read that right, as it is MOBA-inspired we got minions but this time around it’s controlled by players. To top it all off, the game also has a miniature named the Outsider, that serves as a neutral creep of sorts.

There’s currently three levels of pledges — Starter, Hero (early), and Hero. Here are their prices and inclusions:

  • Starter Box (~$61, ~Php 3,200) — 8 Unique Heroes, 16 Minions, 1 Monster, 84 cards, 46 tokens, 1 double-sided board.
  • Hero Pledge (Early Bird — ~$104, ~Php 5,457 | Normal — ~$111, ~Php 5,824) — 20 unique heroes (and counting due to stretch goals), 32 minions, 1 monster, 1 double-sided board, 92 tokens, 160 illustrated cards, high quality custom inserts, all stretch goals.

The minis look stunning and well-made, especially the painted samples (which you can check out here). As of writing, the early bird hero pledge only has 6 hours left. If you want to check the project out you can head on over here. Skytear is estimated to be delivered this December 2019, the Kickstarter campaign ends on June 7th.
