This is one unlikely alliance — a Sony and Microsoft partnership!

In a very suprising turn of events, Sony and Microsoft has entered a partnership to usher in new innovations in Cloud Gaming and AI solutions.

The two companies will venture into joint development of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing service. With this agreement, Sony will be using the said service for its game and content-streaming services, moving forward. Although, the announcement didn’t go into much detail about future plans, nor did it mention the companies two gaming platforms — the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

We are also unsure how this will affect Microsoft’s plans for their cloud streaming platform, xCloud, or Sony’s very own PlayStation Now. What we can be sure of though, is that the focus of the cloud development is on gaming and entertainment. Either way, we’re looking forward to more details in the coming weeks, especially with E3 just around the corner.
