Harry Potter fans in NZ and AU, it’s your lucky day! Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is now in open beta!

Niantic’s Harry Potter version of Pokemon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, has now entered open beta in two countries — Australia and New Zealand. Players from both countries can now proceed to download and try the game out.

In case you missed it, we’ve already reported the pre-registration phase of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite about two months ago. Right now, that’s the best course of action for people outside of Australia and New Zealand. Just a quick recap, the game borrows most of its mechanics from Niantic’s other AR (Augmented Reality) title, Pokemon Go.

Which means, it has its own versions of PokeStops (called Inns), Gyms (called Fortresses), and Pokeballs (which is now a spell system). Niantic has yet to announce whether they’ll be opening the game to more countries soon. Either way, we’ll keep an eye out if they do.
