We have a spicy play-in stage ahead of us!

Get hyped LoL Esports fans, the first international League of Legends tournament of the year, the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), is just right around the corner! With the competition being a week away, the play-in group draw was just completed and the two competing groups confirmed.

MSI Play-in Groups (@lolesports)

Group A has been quickly nicknamed the “group of death” since most of the play-in favorites were placed there. In this group, you’ll find 1907 Fenerbache from Turkey, Phong Vu Buffalo from Vietnam, Isurus Gaming from Latin America, and Bombers from Oceania. The winner of this group will face North America’s Team Liquid in the 2nd stage of the play-ins.

Group B, on the other hand, became the “slightly weaker” group with most teams hailing from regions that haven’t been dominant in past international tournaments. Battling it out here are MEGA from Southeast Asia, Vega Squadron from the Commonwealth of Independent States, INTZ Esports from Brazil, and Detonation FocusMe from Japan. The victor of this group will face Taiwan’s Flash Wolves in the next stage.

The 2019 Mid-Season Invitational will kick off with the play-in stage on May 1. You can check out the LoL Esports website for the latest MSI updates here.
