Fantasy Flight Games is getting busy for the year!
Apart from announcing a new campaign expansion for their large-scale fleet miniature war game, Star Wars: Armada, Fantasy Flight Games is also adding new content to Star Wars: Legion, an infantry-based miniature war game.
First up the Clone Wars Core Set. As the name suggests, this core set includes the battle droids, clones, heroes, and villains of the iconic Clone Wars saga. It comes with thirty-nine easily assembled miniatures and brings in two new factions to the game, namely the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance.
Each faction will come with their own set of cards, tools, and tokens. Fantasy Flight Games’ is reassuring players that this set is not a new edition and is compatible with previous core sets of Star Wars: Legion. Here’s a more detailed list of the miniatures included in the set (all are unpainted):
- 18 B1 Battle Droids
- 4 Droidekas
- 14 Phase I Clone Troopers
- 1 BARC Speeder (can be assembled with or without the sidecar)
- 1 Obi-Wan Kenobi figure
- 1 General Grievous figure
There’ll also be around forty upgrade cards at the player’s disposal, to create a unique feeling army as well as twelve battle cards, eight barricades, a four-part range ruler, and a set of attack and defense dice. Of course, tokens for the various battle effects and indicators will be included too.
The Star Wars: Legion Clone Wars Core Set is set for a Q3 2019 release. It can now be pre-ordered at your local retailers or over at Fantasy Flight Games’ own website (login required).
Apart from the core set, we’re also getting two new expansions from the same Clone Wars saga — the Phase I Clone Troopers Unit Expansion and B1 Battle Droids Unit Expansion. Both of these sets will add more miniatures to the already expansive Clone Wars core set, you know in case you need more units.
First up let’s take a look at the units joining the Galactic Republic, the Phase 1 Clone Troopers. The expansion contains seven unpainted Phase I Clone Troopers (5 wielding DC-15A blaster rifles and a Z-6 and a DC-15 Phase I Troopers) along with a unit card and an assortment of upgrade cards.
Next up, the droids that will bolster the Separatist Alliance. This expansion adds nine unpainted B1 Battle Droids (two wielding heavy weapons). As with the Phase I Clone Troopers expansion, there’ll also be a unit card and a variety of upgrade cards.
