Still free-to-play!

The immensely successful hack-and-slash MMORPG, Path of Exile, finally arrived on the PS4 today. Often compared to the Diablo franchise thanks to its theme, system and overall aesthetics, the game has gathered quite a following through the years and is maintaining its foothold as one of the best MMORPGs out there.

Just a quick refresher. As we mentioned, the game is very much like the Diablo franchise or rather it was practically inspired by it. Players are given a choice of different classes belonging to one or two of the three core attributes of the game — Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence. Much like the Diablo games, players have access to an array of abilities in a very expansive skill tree.

Dungeons are also procedurally generated and instanced, meaning only the players and their party members are visible. Although, mingling with others is possible in encampments, the towns of the game. A key concept in Diablo are the randomly generated gear drops that sometimes have special properties and bonuses, that too is present in Path of Exiles. Last but not the least, the top-down camera orientation.

Path of Exile is out now on the PlayStation Store for free. In case you missed it, Grinding Gear Games, the devs, will also be hosting the first ever player convention for Path in November, aptly named ExileCon. By the way, here’s the link to the game’s store page.
