The next title in this quirky tower defense franchise!

Our friends over at Chromatic Games just announced the Kickstarter campaign for the new entry into the Dungeon Defenders (DD) franchise — Dungeon Defenders: Awakened. The game is set after the events of Dungeon Defenders II but with a twist.

The main theme of the story this time is time travel, which could very well mean the entire Dungeon Defenders storyline is getting altered. In any case, Chromatic Games is promising the same mechanics from the original DD but with upgraded visuals, mechanics, locations, and more. The game will be developed in Unreal Engine 4 and now comes with support for Nintendo’s hybrid.

The devs are changing a ton in gameplay, which includes:

  • Four Player Split Screen Local Multiplayer (Sweet!)
  • Improved combat
  • A more beautiful UI
  • Better inventory management and inventory access anywhere
  • Improved gamepad controls
  • Tactical map overhaul
  • Smoother movement
  • Twitch integration
  • Improved chat
  • Quality of life improvements

Man, that’s quite a list. Honestly, we’re quite excited with this one as we enjoyed Dungeons Defender II, despite its overly grindy nature. The game will be available for the PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch and is estimated to launch this October (if the campaign becomes a success).

The fantastic four once more!

If you wish back Dungeon Defenders: Awakened then head on over to their Kickstarter page here. The lowest pledge with access to the closed beta of the game on PC is priced at $10 (~Php 522). Although, the pledge which gives a game key that can be accessed on a platform of your choice is priced at $20 (~Php 1044).
