Ubisoft is changing the Rainbow Six Siege’s Starter Edition. Formerly the Starter Edition was giving players a hard time in unlocking Operators. Just to unlock the base game’s Operators, Player would have to spend about 150 hours of playing matches. Another couple of hours to obtain the DLC operators, which are double the price of the already hard to unlock base Operators.

This Year, Ubisoft has a treat for those players with the Starter Edition. Starting February 12, the Starter Edition will be no more and it will be replaced by the base edition that’s just called Rainbow Six Siege, having a price of 20USD/750PHP. This will remove the decreased rate of renown accumulation of the starter edition, making it the same as the Standard Edition. In addition to this, the Legacy Operators: the FBI, GSG9, GIGN, SAS, and Spetznaz will now only cost 500 renown, increasing by increments of 500 renown the more Operators you own in the same CTU, costing to a maximum of 2000 renown. Mirroring the original progression of the game upon its release, this new prices are a breath of fresh air compared to their former prices of 12,000 renown each.

The DLC operators also get some love as DLC Operators will also get price reductions. As the roster of Operators in the game, Ubisoft will be decreasing the cost of older DLC Operators. Introducing a scaling system that will decrease the price of the older DLC Operators as the game grows each year with 8 operators per year.

They will also be adding changes the its 3 other editions of the game, The Deluxe Edition will automatically have the Legacy Operators and the Year 1 DLC Operators. The Gold Edition will include the Legacy Operators, Year 1 Operators as well as the Year 4 Pass. Lastly, the Ultimate Edition will include all the Operators in addition to the Year 4 pass.

As a final treat, Ubisoft will upgrade all current Starter Editions to the Rainbow Six Siege Edition, allowing you to obtain the Operators you want at a better rate. To celebrate their 4th year, they will also have an Introductory Sale for all the editions for a limited time and a Free Weekend.
